The First International Conference of Islamic Archaeology in the East

The Islamic East or Islamic Mashriq – the regions of Asia that have experienced Muslim rule and/or cultural influence – has played an important role in the history of world civilizations. This role developed after the spread of Islam in these regions, resulting from the interaction between the Islamic spirit and the inherited civilizations of those countries, and leading to the emergence of key elements of a universal Islamic style whichsubsequently spread eastward and westward.
It is our pleasure to announce the First International Conference of Islamic Archaeology in the East, FICIAE 2013, which will be held at the Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University, on December 8-12, 2013.
